It involves creating a detailed model of the business, including its objectives, governance structure, key business functions, and processes. This model serves as a blueprint to guide the development and implementation of effective business strategies and operations, ensuring they align with the overall goals and capabilities of the organization. It’s a crucial part of enterprise architecture, bridging the gap between business vision and practical IT implementation.

However, staying updated with the latest developments in the framework and enterprise architecture practices is always recommended for professionals in the field.

Studying for TOGAF certification varies by individual, but typically, the TOGAF 9 Foundation (Level 1) requires 2-4 weeks of part-time study. A balanced approach combining reading, practice exams, and understanding core concepts, rather than memorization, is recommended for effective preparation.

I read through all the material over 2 or 3 weeks and then did the boot camp at Firebrand over a long weekend and did both exams at the end. It was intensive and I worked until midnight most nights but that suited my learning style. I also came to this with a lot of prior IT Service, IT Project Management and Systems Architecture knowledge.
